Floyd's Shepherds

OUR FIRST "AUSSIE"

When my 2nd son was 15, he was volunteering at the local animal shelter. I got a call from him one day, "Mom, you've got to see this dog!". I told him that I would look at the dog when I came to pick him up, but we didn't really need another dog so don't count on taking her home. (We had just had a stray take up with us.) What can I say...she was beautiful and friendly and you could just see her intelligence! Well, I couldn't leave her there. (I think that's what my son was counting on!)

I had never even heard of an Australian Shepherd, much less planned on owning one. It didn't take long to see what a special dog they are. She was so quick to learn tricks and so willing to please! Her agility was amazing! She instictively herded our goats when we needed her to...no training involved...she just knew. We also discovered that like m&m and potato chips, it's hard to stop with just one. lol. Shellie is still with us, she is not so agile anymore and mostly just loves to be by our side, but she is still just as loving, intelligent and a big show off every chance she gets.
